Cold Weather Guidelines

Temperatures are based on Environment Canada's 7:00 a.m. temperature reading at the Whitehorse Airport (wind chill is not considered).

  • -20°C or warmer: Regular operations.

  • -20°C to 26.9°C: The Nordic Centre opens as usual; grooming operations may be reduced.

  • -27°C to -31.9°C: The Nordic Centre opens at 12:00 p.m. (noon) and remains open until the regular closing time. Grooming operations are suspended.

Safety Tips:

  • Dress appropriately for the weather. If you choose to ski while the facility is closed, you do so at your own risk.

  • Dress in layers, choose shorter ski routes, and bring warm drinks and snacks to help maintain your body temperature.

  • In an emergency, call 911.
