JDP Program Schedule
For youth ages 13–18 who want more skiing, more adventure, and more time with friends on snow. Build skills, fitness, and confidence in a supportive team environment.
Flex Pass Options
We know life can be busy, and we want to help athletes stay involved. If attending all scheduled practices isn't possible, our Flex Pass may be a good fit. Contact the Program Coordinator to discuss your needs and find an option that works for your family.
Please note: The Flex Pass is not a punch pass. A minimum commitment is required to ensure consistent participation, which helps support both the team dynamic and the planning efforts of our coaches.

The Junior Development Program (JDP) is for youth ages 13–18 who want to improve their skiing, build fitness, and be part of an active and supportive team. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself, spend more time outdoors, or ski with friends, JDP offers a fun and engaging environment to grow as an athlete and individual.
Through trail adventures, skill development, workouts, and group activities, athletes develop classic and skate skiing skills while building confidence, fitness, and independence. Depending on the group's interests and abilities, longer ski outings may be offered later in the season, providing opportunities to explore more of the trail network and enjoy the outdoors with friends.
JDP fosters a positive team environment where athletes can develop skills, make friends, and enjoy being part of the Whitehorse Nordic community.
Program goals:
-
Develop strong classic and skate skiing technique
-
Build fitness, strength, and endurance year-round
-
Challenge athletes physically and mentally
-
Support athletes in setting and working toward personal goals
-
Foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive team environment
-
Encourage a lifelong enjoyment of outdoor physical activity
-
Explore a variety of ski trails and activities throughout the season
-
Provide optional opportunities to participate in races and ski events
Who is this program for?
Youth ages 13–18 who want to improve their skiing skills while training in a fun, supportive environment. Open to both experienced skiers and those new to cross-country skiing.
Interested in racing?
JDP provides opportunities for athletes to participate in races if they choose, but it is not a competitive race-training program. Athletes interested in a more competition-focused pathway may wish to explore programs offered by Cross Country Yukon.
