Junior Development Program (9-12)
Track Attack
Previously known as Lynx
Registration for the season 2024/25 will be opening on September 12th, 2024 at 12pm
The JDP Track Attack is for young skiers aged 9 to 12 years old who wish to improve their overall cross-country ski skills and share funs moments in a group environment.
Our aim is to provide a fun program that will enhance the skiers’ enjoyment of the sport and increase their overall ski skills. Sessions will have a base element of skill instruction as well as plenty of time simply skiing with the group but will also make use of games and drills to enhance learning, improve fitness and enjoyment. While we will invite the JDP Track Attack skiers to enter races or events if they are interested, this is not a racing group and is not intended to train skiers to race.
If your child is very interested in competing, maybe the Cross Country Yukon Squad program is a better fit. Please reach out the their coordinator at ccyassistant@gmail.com.
We have 2 options for skiers participating in the JDP Track Attack this year:
-
Track Attack 1 - a one day per week option that will focus on high-paced game and drills on trails immediately surrounding the Chalet. (Tuesdays evening from mid-November until March break)
-
Track Attack 2 – a two day per week option. Skiers will be all together on Tuesdays and will also meet on Saturday afternoon to explore the Mount Mac trail network more fully. (Tuesdays evening and Saturdays Afternoon from mid-November until March break).
Both options are suited for skiers with an established interest and ability in the sport. If they are excited by the prospect of a ski to Harvey’s Hut or Sarah Steele Hut, then this is a good group for them.
If you would like to arrange a seasonal rental of equipment for use for the Program this season, please visit us at the Whitehorse Nordic Centre (please check our opening hours here), so we can fit your child for their boots, skis and poles for the season.
The JDP Track Attack program meet and start from the Nordic Centre chalet.
Age : Your child should have the required minimum age to enter the program by January 1st, 2025.
